講義概要/Course description
|
This course offers an introduction to public economics. Public economics is an economic displine for analyzing government activities and the interactions of markets with public sectors. In particular, we focus on the microeconomic functions of government including tax, subsidy and various welfare programs. We first learn theoretical frameworks without complicated algebra. We then study actual public policies with relevant literature. We discuss how the systems of public finance work in industrialized countries and what policies are carried out in order to achieve social goals for important issues. We especially focus on the debates on tax and economic inequality.
