講義概要/Course description
パブリック・スピーキング、ディベート、オーラル・インタープリテーション、英語創作劇 (ethnographic performance) 、パフォーマンス学(Performance Studies)の理論を視聴覚教材と共に概観する。日常生活におけるパフォーマンス、社会変革のためのパフォーマンス、独白 (personal narrative) が研究対象となる。随時ワークショップをおこない、理論背景を実践的、かつ身体的に学ぶ。
達成目標/Course objectives
１．スピーチ・コミュニケーションを理論と実践の両面から学ぶ。
２．英語による口頭表現力を養成する。
３．プレゼンテーション・スキルを身につける。
４．人前で話す際のあがり(stage fright) を克服する。
５．小グループ内（４～６名）におけるコミュニケーション能力を向上させる。
履修条件（事前に履修しておくことが望ましい科目など）/Prerequisite
以下が本演習を履修する条件となる：①大川道代担当「コミュニケーション特講」を同一年度に履修する。②１２月のパフォーマンス・フェスティバルにて舞台発表を披露する。③パフォーマンス・フェスティバル当日はゼミ合宿を兼ねるため当日朝リハーサル（午前中）から大会後の反省会終了まで（９PM)ゼミ活動に遅刻・早退せず終日、参加する。

1 100% 演習参加度・貢献度 25％、サブゼミ（授業時間外の自主練習）参加度・貢献度30％、ゼミ発表会における英語演劇発表30％、学期末レポート15％。レポートを期日までに指定された方法で提出しない場合は、評価対象としない。

メッセージ/Message
出席・遅刻・早退は授業参加度・貢献度として扱う。電子メールによる課題、レポートの提出は受け付けない。図書館データベースを検索して証拠資料を収集する、発表のために放課後を含む授業以外の時間帯に自主練習（サブゼミ）に取り組むなど、本演習に参加するには相当のcommitmentが必要である｡グループ活動が中心となるため遅刻・欠席せず、互いに助け合いながらゼミに参加する協調性と責任感が求められる。履修に際して演劇の素養や経験は問わないが、人前で話す活動が中心となるため risk-taking に抵抗のない学生を歓迎する。
発表会２週間前からサブゼミを週３コマ以上おこなう。アルバイト、私的理由（寝坊・娯楽）などによりサブゼミに遅刻・早退・欠席を繰り返すゼミ生が１人でも居ると、その班は有意義なリハーサルが出来なくなり、グループ活動の質と効率が著しく下がってしまう。「メンバー全員そろってサブゼミをする」のが非常に大切であるため、大会直前２週間前からアルバイト・課外活動や私用の曜日と時間帯を調整し、サブゼミと舞台発表を最優先したスケジュール管理ができる学生のみ履修してほしい。
