講義概要/Course description
This course is to prepare students for 3rd and 4th year English courses in their major and for using English in their daily lives and future careers. The course focuses on advancing academic reading skills with an emphasis on vocabulary development, analytical comprehension and discourse analysis. Students will also be introduced to seminal political reading and discuss the themes and concepts presented.
達成目標/Course objectives
Through this course, students will 1) learn pre-reading strategies; 2) gain reading skills to analyze, interpret, and evaluate political and other texts; 3) increase general and field specific vocabulary knowledge; and 4) learn post-reading strategies to express their thoughts and ideas.
