講義概要/Course description
この講義では、初めて英詩を学ぶ受講者向けに、イギリス文学を代表する詩人の作品を取りあげながら、英詩を読むための基礎知識を提供します。詩人の伝記や文学研究のためのキーワードを学び、映像を通じて作品成立の背景を学習します。またそれぞれの作品が現代の音楽や映画に影響を与えた例も紹介します。
受講者は講義で学ぶ詩人について事前に調べ、授業後はより理解を深めるためにできるだけ多くの作品を読んでください。

This course is designed to provide basic and brief introduction to some major English poets for beginners of English poetry. The aim is to understand poets’ backgrounds and basic keywords for literary studies. Students will watch brief videos about poets’ biographies and their times. The class also introduces some examples of how these poems have inspired contemporary music and movies.
Students will be expected to look into a poet that each lecture is going to deal with in advance and to read as many poems as possible after the class for their future research.
