講義概要/Course description
　「コトバ」は人間と動物を最も明確に区別するものであり、しばしばコミュニケーションの道具であるといわれる。しかし、私たちが何かを考えるとき「コトバ」を使わないでは何も考えられないことに気づくと、「コトバ」とは思考の道具、いや思考そのものであるとした方が正確である。こうした「コトバ」を大切にする授業です。
　今まで学習してきたことを復習しながら、「本物」の英語を読んでいきます。「本物」とは、一流の文筆家が書いた文章そのままのものということです。また、「読む」とは字面を追うことで満足するのではなく、言葉ひとつひとつの背後ある筆者のメッセージや文化的な意味を読み取ることでもあると考えます。

対面授業（通常型）

授業の進め方はプレゼンテーションの形式を取ります。前もって担当箇所を決めておき、発表者は全訳・語句、構文説明等をまとめたハンドアウトを作成しe-mailで提出します。調べても不明な箇所は、他の人を指名し答えてもらうこともできます。従って、担当者以外もきちんと準備をしておく必要があります。
