講義概要/Course description
This class will focus on all the skills necessary for the successful completion of the TOEIC examination, but the skills learned will also be useful for other tests including IELTS and TOEFL tests. Students completing the course should be able to score at least 600 in the test, while extra diligent students will be able to score much higher. This course is both rigorous and demanding but students who commit themselves to the course can expect to make significant improvements in all skill areas. Successful students will greatly improve their vocabulary repertoire. In addition, students will also have the opportunity to develop interview techniques through a series of job interview role-play sessions conducted in the second semester.
 
Further to building up key skills, the course will also improve students’ confidence towards test taking. Students will be able to test their skills in every class, which will allow them to correctly gauge their strengths and weaknesses.



達成目標/Course objectives
Students will develop integrated English language skills through activities designed for the TOEIC examination, but students will learn skills useful for other tests including the IELTS. Students will improve analytical abilities, vocabulary, listening comprehension and composition/summarizing skills. In addition, students will gain confidence and preparation skills for future test taking.

The textbook will form the principal material for this course and students are expected to have the textbook for each lesson.There will be practice tests on listening and reading as well as activities designed to improve writing and speaking ability.

Students will be expected to prepare for class where necessary. A good dictionary is strongly advised and a notepad is obligatory. Students may also wish to keep a vocabulary booklet for new terminology and expressions.

In accordance with guidelines established by the Ministry of Education, students do not receive credit simply for attending classes.  However, students' grades may be reduced for failing to attend classes.  Students may not have more than three excused or unexcused absences in one semester in order to pass the class.  Being late twice counts as one absence.
