講義概要/Course description
What is the best way to express your thoughts and feelings in this great world of ours?  The answer is through your writing style.  Each of us has a story to tell based on our own, unique life experiences either here in Japan or from your time abroad. This is what makes our great, global world so interesting and fascinating for all of us. In essence, we can learn from each other through our writings.  The best way to start the writing process is to transfer the images from your mind and/or through your imaginings, and put them on the computer screen through your chosen words.  The key approach for this writing coursework is to be the authentic YOU as a person. For example, you will be expressing your own point-of-view on a variety of creative situations and/or in expressing your comments about current news stories as well as contributing to your evaluation of the moral and/or ethical lessons from old folk tales of long ago.  By utilizing a step-by-step learning approach each week, every student in this class will be given the chance to express themselves through the creative side of the writing process.
達成目標/Course objectives
How can I meet the objectives for this coursework? In order to work on updating your current writing skill levels, each student will be provided a writing model for your own unique perspective to share in class through guided discussions from your instructor.  In order to obtain a level of critical thinking skills on a variety of noteworthy topics, each student will be allowed to express his/her own opinion based on his/her own life experiences and research findings. To express your opinion, it is important to cite the facts and background information on a given topic. In each class session, each student can speak to express his/her own point-of-view or from a shared group research setting.  After several weeks of understanding various writing styles by various authors, each student will be given assignments either through in-class, group-related shared settings, and/or through individually-based work. For all young writers, it is vital to share your ideas and perspectives openly with others, and without judgement. Writing from your heart is the key here. The goal of writing is for the writer to provide critical analysis of any given contemporary situation or circumstances in a given country or within a related group action on a given social issue. Writing is a essential communication tool for today, and it is needed for all of us to have an input into the betterment of humanity-at-large.
履修条件(事前に履修しておくことが望ましい科目など)/Prerequisite
The most important part of learning is your commitment to do the work in class each week. Since writing is a step-by-step process, this will take a dedicated amount of time to develop your writing skills each week. With an earnest commitment of time, and your concentrated effort in your creative writing skills, each student can benefit from learning this vital communication tool for our global connections. The reasons is that there are no border for good writing to cross over in this world of ours.  With powerful words and images that stem your good writing style, one can create a dialogue for positive change.
