講義概要/Course description
The theme of this course is political philosophy forInternational Politics students. For the online version of this course, students will watch lectures byAmerican political philosopher, Michael Sandel, and write essays in response to the lectures.


達成目標/Course objectives
The purpose of this course is to prepare students toperform academic work in English in future classes.  By the end of the course students should be able to take andbasically understand a university-level course taught entirely in English.

授業方法/Method of instruction
Face-to-face classes will be held.   During the first part of the semester, the professors will give an introductory lecture on each of the units(the first week), followed by a class discussion of the unit (the second week).  During the second part of the semester students will be divided in groups of approximately five students each.  Each group will choose one unit and each student will choose one topic from the thinkers, movements, and ideas presented in the lecture outline or discussion questions for that unit and give a presentation in which they do further research on the topic,summarize the findings, analyze the topic from various points of view, and give their own opinion and reasons to support it, and then lead a class discussion on the topic.

成績評価方法/Evaluation
1 平常点 In-class Points 100% Grades will be based on thestudents' presentations and class participation.

In accordance with guidelinesestablished by the Ministry of Education, students do not receive credit simplyfor attending classes.  However,students' grades may be reduced for failing to attend classes.  Students may not have more than threeexcused or unexcused absences in one semester in order to pass the class.
