講義概要/Course description
|
This course will examine Christianity from an academic, cultural, experiential and global perspective. Special attention is given to the following topics:
・ Origins and historical development of Christianity
・ Christian thought and teachings
・ Christian belief and practices of followers of Christ around the world
This course will regularly use e-learning for tests, assignments and communications. The most recent syllabus and schedule, including assignments and all course materials will be available on the course website.
The course will offer both On-Demand and Face to Face classes depending on the situation with the Corona virus. Please see Course Power class website for updates for each class.

達成目標/Course objectives
|
|
The primary goal of this course is to gain a clear and deeper understanding of Christianity as a major world religion. Christianity is not only the founding spirit of this university, but a central religion in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa. Through studying Christianity, you will gain a broader international perspective and understand the central belief system of millions and millions of people around the globe. Additionally, an examination of Christian thought and practice can provide you with valuable insights for your own life and worldview. Critical thinking, academic analysis as well as learning from the perspective and stories of real people who actually practice Christianity as their religious system are key components of this course.

履修条件（事前に履修しておくことが望ましい科目など）/Prerequisite
|
Minimum English Level Required
A minimum score or better in any of the following tests is required: EIKEN Pre-1 Grade, TOEIC 730, TOEFL iBT 68, TEAP 300, IELTS 5.5. OR if you have studied in an English environment for one year or more, you may take the course with permission of the professor.

Students will read ahead the assignments for each lecture as posted in Course Power. They will familiarize themselves with concepts of Christianity they may see around campus and in daily life. They should also begin to do some daily Bible reading in preparation for the course.
