講義概要/Course description
This will be a demanding course requiring full participation in public speaking, policy debate, and round-table discussion. The emphasis will be on giving oral presentations and speeches in front of the class. The main focus will begin with intellectual interrogation, then will lead into topics regarding LGBT, child adoption, reproductive right, surrogacy, affirmative action, entrance examination systems, etc. The students are required to stand up and give opinions based on academic research, instead of just sitting down and being silent.

メッセージ/Message
4月第1回目の対面授業時に各自の発表週を割り振るので、履修者は出席すること。話す⇒説得⇒討論が授業の主目的であるため、現在の英語力に関わらず積極的に話そうとする態度、文法や発音に間違いがあっても臆せず、発話量を増やそうと努力する学生に履修してほしい。賛否両論に分かれる現代的な論題について、皆で励ましあいながら温かい雰囲気の中で議論・討論するプロセスにおいて、履修生一人ひとりが切磋琢磨することを期待している。

出席・早退・遅刻は授業参加度、貢献度として扱う。授業回数の1/3以上、前期5回、後期5回、通年で10回以上(合計10回含む)欠席がある場合は、評価対象としない。
