講義概要/Course description
The aim of this course is to deeply understand Japanese culture by experiences of Japanese traditional crafts and arts. This course will consist of a full-time teacher’s lectures and guest speakers’ instructions.

[IMPORTANT] Due to the restriction of college funding, The class is EXCLUSIVELY designed for international students (including international exchange students). IF YOU ARE NOT AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT, PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER.

*At the point when the class is planed (Jan. 2022), we are looking for the opportunity to teach in the traditional face-to-face meeting style. However, due to the uncertainty of the Covid pandemic, the following plan and schedule of the class are subjects to change. If the pandemic prevents us from meeting in person, the class would be switched to online meetings.

1. To experience traditional Japanese culture via firsthand experience.

2. Be able to relate traditional Japanese culture to literary works in one’s own thoughts

3. Be able to explain the essence of “Japanese culture” to others
履修条件(事前に履修しておくことが望ましい科目など)/Prerequisite
Japanese proficiency is preferable but not required.

補足事項/Supplementary notesFace-to-face class meetings, lectures by the instructor and guest speakers. / The course was originally designed for face-to face classing meetings and first-hand experience by attending a variety of activities. However, due to pandemic, it is possible that the class will be conducted on-line.
Should the class style be switched to on-line instruction, on-line live meeting lectures by the instructor; On-demand videos by guest speakers;
On-line lectures via Webex meeting.

Last year, this class was canceled because it requires a face-to-face and first hand experience. We will try to figure out a way to make it happen in personal meetings or via online instructions.
