達成目標/Course objectives
|
The purpose of this course is to prepare students for attending academic lectures in English. By the end of the course students should be proficient in academic reading, listening, and summary writing. Each lesson will consist of a short reading text, followed by a short lecture on the same topic. Students will be required to write a summary of the main points of the lecture, stating how those points relate to the reading. In Lessons 12, 13, and 14 we will examine some other types of summary.

Students' summaries will be graded according to the following criteria: Correctly identifying the main points of the lecture, and giving sufficient explanations of those main points, and level of English (word choices, spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.). No marks are awarded for 'attendance, punctuality, and participation'. However, students will lose marks if they break the Class Rules, which are: come to every lesson, and get to class on time, and participate in the exercises. The teacher is strict with these rules.
