講義概要/Course description
Content: We will focus on the European Union (EU) as well as some (non-EU) European countries (UK, Russia and Turkey). Major economies such as Germany, France, Italy and Spain will be studied as well as some smaller European economies like Greece, Ireland and Sweden. Major topics like the the debt crisis, global migration, geopolitics, environmental sustainability and youth unemployment will be also be assessed in order to better understand the current and future challenges for Europe.

Week 1 = Online - Real Tine  + On-demand format
Weeks 2-15 = In person in classroom at AGU.

達成目標/Course objectives
Objectives are to provide an overview of Europe from both an economic and political perspective. It aims to give students a broad understanding of the EU which will allow useful comparison against other major economies like the US, Japan and China. With the difficulty in studying overseas in this current period, this class provides a wonderful opportunity for those students who still want to be able to improve their English ability while increasing their international knowledge and economic awareness
履修条件(事前に履修しておくことが望ましい科目など)/Prerequisite
No previous Economic or European studies knowledge is required. English skills useful but perfect English is not required.

事前学習/Preparation Course reading materials will be provided digitally on Course Power each week. Students are expected to have read all these articles in advance and thus be ready to actively participate in class discussions. 
事後学習/Reviewing It is strongly advised that after the class each Saturday, in order to maximise learning and knowledge retention, students should review the class PowerPoint in particular as well as the class readings.
