講義概要/Course description
総合文化政策学部の2年生は、1年次での本学部独自の実践的な英語プログラム(ACEプログラム)を承けて、その発展段階として「英語による日本理解」計2科目(前後期週2回ずつ、クラス指定)を履修する。これらを通して、日本に関する諸分野の知見を広げながら、それを扱うための語学力と思考力,表現力を磨く。
このコースでは、芸術のみならず様々な文化や社会の側面を多様な表現方法で提示する「ミュージアム」をテーマとし、日本と世界の「ミュージアム」を通して情報の分析と分類法を学び、情報を論理的に提示する訓練を行う。日本の文化や歴史に関わる様々なトピックを選び、テキストを読み、確な定義づけや解説、持論の展開ができる能力をさらに高める。また、学期を通してコミュニケーションとプレゼンテーションにも重点を置く。具体的には、英語のネイティヴ・スピーカー(ゲスト講師)を交えてコミュニケーション能力の維持・向上をはかりつつ(TOEIC等の学力認定試験対策も兼ねる)、日本文化を発信するためのプレゼンテーション能力を強化する。グループ別の「プロジェクト・ワーク」などを取り入れ、企画を進めるおもしろさを体験しながら、文化のすぐれた「受信者=発信者」としての総合的なリテラシーを身につけるのが狙いである。また、1年時に習得したAcademic Writingの知識と技術を応用し、日本文化の一側面を論理的かつ明確に表現するための小論文も課される。上位2クラスでは、更に英語らしい文章の構成力や正確な英語表現の習得を目指して学期中に3回のライティング課題が追加され、講師が詳細なフィードバックを行う。
達成目標/Course objectives
英語によるリテラシーとコミュニケーション能力・ライティング能力・プレゼンテーション能力を通して、日本についての認識を高め、自分の言葉で説明できる基礎力をつける。

補足事項/Supplementary notes対面授業(通常型):すべての授業を対面で実施する。
授業内では学生どうしのインターアクションやグループ学習を重視する。なお、授業は新型コロナウイルス感染予防対策を取りながら、原則として対面での実施を予定しているが、今後のウイルス感染拡大状況により、オンライン授業となる場合がある。

成績評価方法/Evaluation
1 100% Examination 20% The examination will be administered about halfwaythrough the term. Students are evaluated on how well they do on the test.
Group Presentation 20% The presentation will be done in groups of 3 or 4students. Each student will receive a maximum of 10 points for the individual score, and a maximum of 10 points for the group score. Detailed evaluation criteria will be introduced in class.
Writing Assignment 20% Students are required to submit an essay on a giventopic twice during the term: the first draft and the final draft. Detailed evaluation criteria will be introduced in class.
Homework 20% Students are evaluated on how well they do assigned homework including three assessed writing homeworks
Class Participation  20%   Students are evaluated how actively they participate in class maintaining English only.
課題(試験やレポート等)に対するフィードバックの方法/Feedback methods for assignments (exams, reports, etc.)
Feedback to the group presentation will be provided to each group orally during preparation lessons and in written form after the presentation. Feedback to the writing assignment and writing homework will be given individually in written form on students' assignments/homework either on paper or via CoursePower.

授業は学生が全ての課題を実施してくることを前提に進められる。必ず指定された課題を済ませて授業に臨むこと。課題は授業内、またはCoursePowerで提示される。必ず定期的にCoursePowerを確認すること。また、授業内で利用される言語はすべて英語である。日本語等英語以外の使用は慎み、受講者全員が授業効果を最大限に享受できるよう留意すること。
また、授業には必ず電子辞書、又は英英辞典を持参すること。最新の電子辞書にはすぐれた「英英辞典」が搭載されている。「英和辞典」やウェブ辞書で単語の意味だけを安易に調べて済ますのではなく,「英英辞典」を積極的に用い,「英語で考える」機会を最大限に増やそう。
その他/Others
授業の3/4の出席を単位認定の必須条件とする。授業開始から15分までの入室を遅刻とし、2回の遅刻を1回の欠席とする。15分を超える遅刻も1回の欠席とみなす。
但し、オンライン授業となった場合は授業形式も含めて上記ルールが変更になる場合がある。詳細は授業内で提示予定。
