講義概要/Course description
Japanese Popular Culture on Social Media 

The emergence of social media has transformed media ecology and ways of communications in the digital age. This course will examine the relationship between Japanese popular culture and the current social media, including Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Niconico, TikTok and more.
達成目標/Course objectives
- To develop a deeper understanding of Japanese popular culture in social media 
- To discover innovative uses for social media in a variety of Japanese popular culture 
- To compare and contrast the production/consumption/circulation process of each Japanese popular culture in the mass media era vs. the age of social media

This course strongly encourages and welcomes open communication. Rather than a lecturer, the instructor will act as a facilitator in the class. Questions and discussion in the classroom will also be a central part of teaching. Many topics in the class will be explored through in-class discussions and activities related to assigned readings. 

*We will have a small quiz at the end of every class (1 open-ended question). 
*Note that class contents may change during the semester.
*The class is adaptive class based on students' experience
