達成目標/Course objectives
|
The aims of this course are to have students develop writing and speaking skills centering on familiar everyday matters, such as hobbies, likes/dislikes, and favorite things and places. With regard to writing, the focus will be on basic sentence structure, and extend to the development of full presentation--including a good introduction, thesis statement, main points found in the body, and a good conclusion--through the creation of drafts and notecards. Students will create a portfolio for their work for peer and instructor review. Presentational techniques will be introduced to provide the learners with sufficient knowledge and skills to produce simple oral presentations given from notes. Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to: -Write to give presentations in simple and clear English. -Employ language structures and vocabulary that support communication in which comparisons, descriptions, processes, and cause-and-effect relationships to which they were exposed. - Find topics suitable for assignments and organize their ideas into an outline that serves as basis for their presentations. - Assess both the writing and speech of classmates given the simple nature of the topics. -Understand how to cite sources used so as to avoid plagiarism.
