 English Core I-d

This course aims to expand on skills students acquired in English Core I-d, with a focus on academic English. Students will be able to understand the content of a reading passage of a certain length. In order to improve critical listening skills, students will be exposed to level-appropriate academic content from the Internet and other sources related to textbook subject matter.
Course objectives

As instructors will conduct lessons using a selected textbook (among several possible choices of textbooks), they will explain during the first class meeting how they plan to incorporate selected textbook content with various level-appropriate tasks and exercises to create a highly active and communicative learning environment. Students will take part in reading and listening tasks as input activities. Further, this course aims to improve students’ academic reading and listening skills through the use of multimedia materials dealing with global issues and cultural diversity. In addition to the final exam, students’ achievement levels will be tested on a regular basis.
