講義概要/Course description
|
The course will focus more clearly on different functions of oral English. Students will both practice and consider the differences of register; talking to friends or talking in a more formal, work-place or academic setting. In each different situation, different oral skills will be practiced, such as expressing personal beliefs, and exchanging views and opinions, or agreeing and disagreeing politely. Practice will take the form of chats between student or more formal presentations amongst other speech acts.
This course is designed to primarily help students improve their speaking and listening skills. We will also work on reading skills in order to help students understand where and how to look for key information and how to write a basic report on a topic of their choice.

達成目標/Course objectives
|
Students will gain practice in English for use in the world beyond the classroom. Students will use English to develop teamwork, creativity, initiative, and time management skills. They will use English socially (to build relationships), functionally (to complete activities and manage conversation), and academically (to discuss higher-level ideas). Classroom tasks will be similar to those in the first semester, but students will be encouraged to use more English to plan and prepare these tasks.
Class activities and homework assignments will be an integral part of the final grade.

Check the current news events on any news media you like and look for topics that interest you. Be ready to give a clear well organized opinion on class material when it's your turn. Think about what related discussion questions you can ask people in your group. |
