講義概要/Course description
|
This course introduces contemporary topics in Development Economics. The course begins with investigation of the mechanisms of economic growth, which has been a central issue in Macroeconomics. Moreover, since economic growth is accompanied with some concerns and controversies, we make some discussions about them. In the middle of the course, we expand our view and learn an idea of institution, trade, and industrialization in the context of economic development. Toward the end of the course, our focus shifts to intriguing topics in Microeconomics. We study consumer theory and learn its application to the analysis of agrarian household behavior, and touch on a couple of methodologies for impact evaluation of poverty alleviation programs such as Microfinance. Through the entire course,we intend to acquire a fundamental understanding of important concepts and theories in Development Economics.
