講義概要/Course description
Theme: Academic English proficiency in reading and writing

This course is one of the two integrated English courses instructed solely in English (the other is a ‘Speaking and Listening’ course). Students will take both courses with the same native English instructor in a small class. Each class is 90 minutes in length and meets three times a week.

Instructors will emphasize developing productive skills, i.e. writing, language accuracy, vocabulary, knowledge of collocations. Through the exploration of different academic topics, the class will also include development of important strategies for improving IELTS exam scores. Students will be expected to participate actively and collaboratively, working in pairs and groups.

Tutorials: The instructor will be available for meeting students outside of class times in order to discuss progress and develop strategies for improvement when needed. The sessions will be done on a sign-up basis.

IELTS and TOEIC:
 • IELTS: Students need to take two official IELTS exams on campus; 17 May 2025 & 5 July 2025.
 • TOEIC: Students need to take the TOEIC exam in December in order to verify progress.

その他/Others
Students must attend an average of three-quarters (3/4 = 75%) of the classes to be eligible to receive credit. Students who are up to 15 minutes late are noted as late. Those who are late on two occasions are considered to have missed one class. Students who are more than 15 minutes late are considered to have been absent from that class.
