講義概要/Course description
|
This course introduces the ways of management for employees satisfaction and their better performance from an organizational studies point of view. Given understanding of the fundamental ways in which firms operate, it explores the complexities of management and people at work.
First, what an organization is and why it is important, will be carefully discussed. Organization theory and management studies are introduced, showing both differences to be understood; then case studies and quizzes are assigned to examine how firms manage contradictions in the business environment. Japanese, British and American contexts will be reviewed.
It is taught in English. Students are expected to develop analytical skills articulating own original ideas to solve current issues in respective theme.

Through the course, students are expected to begin to; 1. appreciate different ways of organizational management, 2. acquire insight into how employees behave in work organizations, 3. have a critical thinking of the main theoretical ideas relating to organizational management

1. Case analysis [50%] : Given the actual case study materials, students analyze the case and submit through the course-power : Join mini-discussion within a small group including international students
2. Quizzes [25% x2] : 2 quizzes will be given in respective 2 classes : Students submit through the course-power

Case analysis tasks and quizzes are assigned to students. All of them will be reviewed together with a feedback from the instructor in the next class.
